Those things will hurt out in LA because the Fakers will get their running game going off those. The question posed this morning on WEEI radio is whether you feel better about the C's chances now than you did 24 hours ago. My gut reaction was a definite YES based mostly on their defense, but now stepping back I can't say I feel better now or that I'll even feel better if they win on Sunday. These home games are a MUST WIN because Kobe will play better at home for sure. It still looks like Celts in 7 to me.

Neither team seemed to have any momentum for very long. As you guys pointed out, the Celtics were sloppy. I don't know if they were trying to impress a national crowd with some of their passes and shots but they need to learn to cherish every possession. Pierce's injury was scary. I thought it would be a cruel joke if he was out for the series after waiting so long to get here. Thank goodness someone decided that was not how it should be. It was scary going into the fourth with a slim lead with "the best closer in the game" on the other side. I'm going to get sick of hearing that from the ABC crew by the time this series is over. So the only time the Celtics can win is if they have a 20pt lead by the fourth? Kobe is in denial about his performance. Yeah he missed makeable shots but a couple of times, the Celtics had him penned in pretty good. If the Celtics can similar numbers in game two, it'll get him thinking twice. Hopefully the Celtic's will work on things during this short break. The Lakers were double teaming Pierce right away when he got the ball. Doc and company need to game plan for that. It took too long for Paul to recognize that at times. We need him to be productive in this series to win. Gasol slipping the pick and roll needs to be address too. Too many easy hoops for the Spaniard. I was thinking at the end that if the Celtics can win this that would be great because they didn't exactly play their best and will come out with more determination in game 2.

I think you have it about right. The Lakers didn't play their best and neither did we. That alone will surprise the Lakers for game 2. Pierce's condition is critical going forward, though. It was electric in Boston last night. Great crowd.

Great to be in this town (LA) and have come away with that game!! I was walking in my neighborhood this morning and the guy driving the recycling truck pulled up and asked if I was one of those "bandwagon" Boston fans (I was wearing my C's cap). We laughed and he proceeded to tell me how LA is in trouble because they don't have the physical strength down low like we do. Can we play better? Yes. Can they play better? Yes. We won!! WooHoo!!!!

This is a little strange, but I was angry happy last night. I really, REALLY hate the Lakers, and when the Celtics did something good I was like "Yes! F*** the Lakers!!!" I don't know if that makes sense. I am definitely feeling better about this series (injuries aside) than I was before the game. First and most obviously, we won, but more importantly, I didn't see anything about the Lakers to fear. Yes Kobe can shoot better, but it's now 3 games in a row that he's shot poorly against us and at some point a definite pattern emerges. Plus, we can shoot better too. I just heard Jim Rome (who I think is frequently a prick) and James Worthy laughing about Pierce's coming back into the game after being in a wheelchair a few minutes earlier. Laughing at him - as though he were being overdramatic. Not exactly a faker, but milking it or something. What a couple of jerks. I had to change the station. Man would I love to beat these guys convincingly. IT'S ALL OVER. IT'S ALL OVER. And the Boston Celtics are World Champions for the SEVENTEENTH TIME.

Even if Pierce comes back I doubt he'll be the same and we lose that huge edge we had vs Radmanovic. A rim attacking Pierce reduced to just jumpshooting has me very concerned and to make matters worse Tony Allen has barely played while nursing his injury. Sounds like Perk really messed his ankle up bad and it's been lost in all this Pierce hoopla. Damn you Scott Pollard. At least we have PJ.

Making quick lateral moves could be hard for him with this type of injury, and that is required more on defense than offense. I would expect Kobe to go right at him and test Pierce's ability to stay with him.

Keep Ray on him, and encourage him to take long 2s and 3s, and when he drives on Ray, 1 or 2 help defenders collapse on him - that would include Paul. If we want to put a good 1 on 1 defender on him, then Posey or perhaps even a cameo from Tony. We don't necessarily need or want Paul on Kobe, except perhaps sparingly. Paul on Rad makes for a much easier assignment. I'd really like to know just exactly what the injury is...but the Cs might want to withhold that information. I have a hard time believing they would not force Paul to undergo an MRI - what if it is indeed a serious tear of the meniscus? The reports do seem generally positive - not too much swelling, can put full weight on the knee, and apparently will be able to play in Game 2, even if limited minutes. Odd how one can become obsessed with the state of some athlete's knee injury. Oil at $140/barrel causing havoc and huge worry, the China earthquake death toll may tragically hit 100,000 when the final count is done, a black man has a legimate shot at the most powerful position in the world....but all I have thought about the last day and a half is what's up with Paul's knee. Go Celtics!

He's been such a revelation this year. He's a tremendous option in the clutch, able to create excellent looks for himself or others, he's a great late-game rebounder. I'm most impressed with his D. He's such a capable defender. Think about it: he's played Josh Smith, Joe Johnson, LeBron James, Rip Hamilton, Tay Prince, Rodney Stuckey and now Kobe and played the best defense of anybody on the team against all of them. His lateral movement, anticipation and decision-making have been rock solid. I just hope the injury doesn't slow him on D. His excellent D has overshadowed Posey's worse than expected D. Posey was shredded by Bryant as he was by LeBron and to a lesser extent Joe Johnson. I love his team defense, but I really don't think he's that quick laterally and he's fairly easy to lose off the dribble. And Cassel has been mindbogglingly terrible for the last several games. He nailed a bunch of shots, which was great, but repeatedly lost track of Fisher, took horrible shots in the 4th quarter and then committed that 24 second violation. He has been an enormous disappointment to me. He was so great as a Clipper a few years ago. I guess he's not able to adapt to being a role player. Our biggest need going into the offseason will be finding someone other than House or Cassel to be the playmaker off the bench. They were fine during the regular season, but they've become our greatest liability going into the playoffs. Our offense breaks down when Rondo's out, even when it was only mediocre with him in. We could really use someone with a Cassel mentality to score, but we need a guy who drives to the basket and can play decent D. Why does Detroit get to have Billups AND Stuckey! Hope Perk's ok. He's a big part of defending Gasol. It hurts when he gets switched on Odom though. KG is the only big guy who can hang with Odom other than maybe Powe. I have no idea what to expect heading into Game 2. The Lakers are deadly when they hit their jumpers. They're like the Raptors, only with Kobe instead of Anthony Parker.

F them...they think they are above the fray. And I love Kobe's "I missed soe easy shots" as though it wasn't the D. Yah, fallaway jumpers with two guys in your face is an easy shot. Rapist. What was good was Gasol had on THREE points in the second half and Fisher only 2. So, they limited them after good starts. If they can just play strong d and rebound, they can do it. LA doesn't want to run a half court set all game.
