I wanted to call the show when we won the ECFs and say this. (basically)
I am a southerner from nashville TN. I am 29. I remember with vivid detail the 86 and 87 finals . My grandfather was a gambler and during the 87 finals he cut off the game with about 4 minutes to go (we were in panama city for vacation) because he lost a bet on the C's in the 6th game (which, of course they lost). We were down double figures as I? remember but not so far that it wasnt feasable to come back, but my grandpa wouldnt let me change it back. The Boston Celtics belong to the country and the world. You have no idea how far their fandom reaches. Its really special and it took a really wacky set of events for us to lose our luster (Bias, Reggie, the draft ect. ect.) and the people who are left after all these years from ALL OVER this nation and beyond, are so passionate about the Celtics -- its just special man. Its great. The Boston Celtics are a franchise that has not only changed the game of basketball for the better, its changed LIVES for the better. The Celtics represent everything thats good and holy about the universe. Really, Im only exaggerating a wee bit. When the NBA league pass came along and I was able to follow every game (but remember during the mid 80s and early 90s I venture to say that 10-15 reg. season games plus playoffs were carried nationally and locally here in TN not to mention cable, WGN when we played the Bulls, and WTBS when we played the Hawks -- so I was able to watch more games than you'd think when I was a kid) anyways -- league pass which I got in 02 -- something about the local commercials (foxwoods) and getting to hear Tommy and Mike, brought me even closer. I mean I would eat canned clam chowder and watch the C's and even though I have never been to Boston, I felt a kinship with boston (I have a Celtic last name after all). I found fanhome on a net search looking for internet Celtics message boards and here I am mafter a chain of events). Dudes, we are going to beat LA (!!!!!!) because people underestimate our D and overestimate our first round struggle with the Hawks! I fear LA less than Detroit! BEAT LA! BEAT LA! Basically I wanted to let the people in the New England know the influence that Celtics basketball has had one me as a southerner and on the world. Excuse me folks as my spelling and structure is even worse than normal. I blame that on the Jamison. GO CELTICS! |

Lee the disparity in knowledge between this board and others is unreal. We have great posters, media dudes, and most importantly- NO TROLLS. Just real
basketball talk without the bs...
When I joined these guys last year during the 24-win season, they helped keep me off the ledge lol |

This board apparently isn't for everybody - but that is fine - about 5 to 10 more active posters and I would be pleased as punch.
But no doubt, we've got a solid group who have tremendous insight and knowledge, and by virtue of people's backgrounds and geographic locations, etc. - we actually get a wide gamut of perspectives and "talents" provided here (e.g., Jugs - CSL and board mgmt, tT - blogging, yak - photoshop). And there is nice mix of old and young, backgrounds. |

Yeah, we fn rule. Does that goofy coming from a 42 yr old? Yeah, guess so, but if they can win this title, it will be probably the most satisfying because this
is the longest they have ever gone without a title....and against LA.
What is even more impressive of this group is how many have gone on to actually covering games, becoming reporters, and writers. So much for us useless bloggers, right Globe/Herald "columinsts." Here is my impression of a Globe beat writer writing about the game. "Hmm, let me pull out my trusty, 20yr standard game report, change a couple names, change the score, send to editor....done. Where's the whiskey?" F you guys, we are the wave of the future. People who still care about the game and want to get inside info. |

You know what's funny - I've known some of you guys for years. I have friends in real life I don't keep in touch with for that long.

Does that goofy coming from a 42 yr old? It got into the Jamison last night. "We have a special group here" sounds pretty gay. As well as goofy. If I was forced to get gay with a butt-pile of dudes, it would be you guys! |

I was wondering what happened to Lee. LOL The Lee I know has returned. But that was interesting story about the Lee early years and grand dad.
My grandfather was known to place a bet or two. I remember that I was the only kid in my class who had been to the horsetrack at age 14. Yeah, I know.... Where are the parents here? group hug
Ugh, how about.....we gosh darn rule. There. I said it. |

What more can you ask for in a fan forum? T noticed I was floundering on another site and invited me here and I have not looked back since. Very respectable
and cool dudes here not to mention all the talent like the above mentioned. I just try to do my best to keep up with these guys here. It's been a heck of a
ride from last season's lottery ball watching to actually experiencing NBA Finals glory. Wow, I still can't believe it.

All these years I thought that no one knew how to spell it.

I'm so freakin' psyched for this shite!! Talked with both my dad and my brother today....both in Maine.
Can't wait 'till tomorrow when all these Faker fans I'm surrounded by will be crying in their coffee. Seriously! All those little flags on their cars.....just give me some lighter fluid and a match!!! Being a Celtic fan in LA is going to be great after we have pushed them into a pile of their own baby poop! Love this board. It's the only Celtic board I've ever participated in. I lurk around celticsblog a bit but have never joined. I read their articles though. Jeff does a great job. I've got 2 words for all this.....Gaaahhh-net!!! |

This board's okay. Some of the posters are really out there. Others need to have some therapy especially some of the mods who have delusions of grandeur.
We also could use some chicks here. Or in lieu of that, have tenaciousT put on a sundress.

Relax yak - all tT meant was up your nose with a rubber hose - it's a simple procedure - they may be able to remove a polyp or two - you'll survive
