Sounds good Jug - and yes JMost, I had a brainfart about it being last night instead of 10/26 - but is Jugs going to do CSL and the draft at the same time? I
know he's talented, but . . .

I am doing another draft on 10/26 right after the show ends, but would be happy to manage two drafts simultaneously...
Can someone check with Ugh for me? |

I believe we have heard from everyone except Zeke that Sunday Oct 26 is good for them for the draft.
What say you Zeke? And what time is good? In the past we've done it at 10 PM. Does that work? |

good for me - I'm psyched to kick everyone's collective asses again during the regular season, and then wilt during the playoffs as usual

Yeah, I can do it then.

Will it be quicker this time? Didn't we finally cut it down to 10 minutes between picks because last year it took 3 days to do it, haha. I loved that it
took like 6 hours before I ccould pick again just to have happen at 2am and it picked automatically.

I completely forgot about how we did it last year. I was assuming we would do a live draft starting at 10 PM and the whole thing would be over in less than 2
hours.

it will probably be a 2 minute time limit as a live draft - right?

Certainly no more than that. Was it 2 minutes or 90 seconds we've done before?
We should also talk about roster size. Last year we had 14 teams x 10 rounds of the draft = 140 players drafted. The free agent pool was pretty thin. This year, with only 8 teams, we are all going to have much better and deeper squads. If we expand the rosters to, say, 12 players, 96 players would be drafted. We could go to even bigger rosters, but I'd rather see a decent pool of players available to fill in for injuries. Any thoughts?

I think with only 8 teams, that we should have deeper squads - say 15 each (sound familiar?) with 10 active and 5 reserve. That would be 120 total drafted with
plenty of talent left on the waiver wire.
Looking at some of the mock drafts - 120 deep seems about right to leave some interesting prospects on the waiver wire. If we only draft 80, you could probably remake your team through free agency, which defeats the purpose of being prepared for the draft - which I think is the most fun of the whole thing. So how about 1 each PG, SG, SF, PF, C and then 1 G, 1 F and 3 utility, plus 5 reserves - that makes 15 per team. Thoughts? |

I think drafting 120 is too many because I just don't believe it leaves a decent free agent pool. I've seen mock drafts with as few as 100 (10 x 10)
players taken, so 96 isn't that radical. If we go to 13 rounds we'd be drafting 104.
Being prepared for the draft is fine (and I know you're very good at it Manch) but there's also something to be said for not being hamstrung all season by one night of lackluster decision-making. There's also the fact that more rounds take more time, and we're already starting pretty late. Anyone else? |

10pm 10/26
Is that what we're set on? I'm out of town that weekend and won't be back till about 7pm Sunday evening so that should work out fine. So we are starting over again??? From scratch??? Say it isn't so. |

JMost - the flip-side to that are those that invariable snatch up the free agents because they are watching the waiver wire 24/7.
Also - I vehmently CBSSportsline - 10 teams, 14 rounds = 140 players ESPN - 12 teams, 13 rounds = 156 players and one fantasy bball league I'm in has 9 teams, 18 rounds = 162 players Really, 100 players in the league is just leaving too much talent on the waiver wire for someone that has the time and patience to scoop up. The league should be more than about having time and patience . . . But knowing you have a strong opinion on this JMost, that is why I proposed 120 players drafted versus a more normal 140. See how diplomatic I am? |

Start from scratch, 8 teams, 12 players, 10/26 at 10pm. Sound good?

Jughead - et tu Brute? Did you read my post? 120 is much better versus the 96 you are proposing.
Let's go 14 rounds instead of 12 rounds. In the spirit of the presidential campaigns, let's put it out to vote! |

MVBob, I confess I didn't look around that much. The one I saw at SI.com had 10 teams and 10 rounds, so I was going on that. I can see that other drafts
went considerably deeper. It's not so much that I feel strongly, as that it seemed to me with 140 drafted last year that there wasn't much available.
I can live with 14 rounds x 8 teams = 112 players drafted.
