Really, it's not that big of deal with 2 keepers. I have no problem trotting Jason Kidd and Jason Richardson as my keepers against Paul and Howard. As it is - MVJ will be punting on FT% due to Howard being Shaq-like, cancelling one of the 4 cats that Paul excels in. So - bring it on MVJ!!! But this should be contingent that the draft order has the best last. So Zeke would be last, and I can't remember who got 2nd, but they would go next to last.

I don't even see where we have our players listed on yahoo fantasy from last year. I see the team from 2006-07 where Jughead defeated me, and 2005-06 where Wishs Vicious Fishes won over yak. But where the heck is our league from last year - Zeke is going to lose any notoriety if doesn't live on in posterity at yahoo.com?

Thanks for the offer MVB but i'll go along with the program. Even though i came in 2nd it doesn't mean having both cp3 and Howards ensures dominance. Other than cp3, Howard, and Gay, I definitely made some draft boo boos i wish i could of had back. That cost me the title in the end. Zeke deserved it because he drafted far better from top to bottom. That's why i like emphasis on the draft with expanded rosters. Waiver wire should be temporary bandaids, not bailing out guys who didn't draft well.

Those with two great first and second round keepers were not necessarily the only ones in good shape if we had proceeded as discussed last year. I thought we had decided we were going to be able to keep 3 players, at least one of which was going to have to have been a 5th round or later pick, and that we would forfeit the pick from whatever rounds our keepers were from. (It turns out that that may not have been possible given the constraints of nba.com - which is what we used last year.) I was actually in great shape being able to keep Elton Brand as my 9th round pick.

In any case, I'm with you in that I really don't care enough to get into a big to-do over it. Whatever everyone wants is fine with me.

Well I'm heading out of town tomorrow night and won't be back to Sunday evening. It would of been nice to get some answers on the league before heading out. I'm totally unprepared and not getting my keepers back!

I thought we were starting over with no keepers. I may need to turn over the commissioner reigns to someone, it's a busy time for me right now. I can definitely keep up with the league, but struggling with keeping up here at the message board...

That's what I thought but now im confused. So we're going with either start from scratch and do the keeper league...or we start from scratch every season? Rosters of 14 or 16? I just logged in for the first time and noticed the rosters are at 14. Could we vote on 14 or 16? Put my vote in for 16! Also Jug, if you seriously got to get away from the commish thing, then I put my vote in for MVBob haha.

I think a roster of 16 would leave little in the free agent pool as we would be drafting 128 players. We were at around 140 players last season and there was nothing out there. This way, people stay active on the waiver wire. Keep in mind though that there is a limit of 30 transactions. Also, we are going to start over but these 8 people will be the core of an ongoing keeper league from here on out.

Jughead - I actually was going to volunteer yesterday, because I know you have a lot on you numerous plates at the moment - do you want to pass on any vital information about our account and I will try to gain some continuity with the past leagues we've had? I forgot that we went to NBA.com instead of Yahoo last year, and that is why when I was looking at Yahoo that I didn't see our results . . . but I'm disappointed that there isn't much in the way of continuity between recording the standings in years past with NBA.com . . . maybe with a keeper league that will change, and we definitely will have a keeper league starting this year. Sound good?

This is our list - and it looks like Jughead has it all set up on NBA.com.

We have 14 rounds set for the draft at 10 PM this Sunday night. 8 of the 14 will be active each day, with these position requirements:

I'm not sure about the games limit thing. I think we set the number of waiver pick-ups to 30 for the season. The scoring will be set to 9 equally weighted categories: points, assists, rebounds, blocks, steals, off rebounds, 3pts made, FG% and FT%. We set the final playoff round to be the 3rd to last week of the regular season I believe. However, should we just have the top 4 teams make the play-offs? That would make the playoffs 2 rounds. Alternatively, we could have 6 teams with the two top teams have a "bye week" which doesn't make much sense to me, or since we have 8 teams, we could have everyone in the playoffs and make it 3 rounds. What's kapish with everyone?

On the keepers - we have to nail down what we are doing here: here's an interesting aricle on the subject. What may work for us is have the keeper for next year be assigned to the draft round that you selected them in, so you would lose that pick in the next draft. OR . . . we have two levels of keeper - a franchiser who was selected from the first 4 rounds, and a non-franchiser who was selected in round 5 and beyond. In 2009, we could keep 1 franchiser assigned as our 1st round pick, and 2 non-franchisers assigned as our 5th and 6th round picks, and then proceed with the draft as normal. The other thing to establish is the duration of the keeper contract - I would think having a keeper for 3 years would be long enough. Thoughts?

I'll let the random number generator establish the draft order, unless Jugs did that already and the draft list is "as is".

Jugs - let me know the secret password to the commish and I will take care of the league - if no has any serious objections . . .

Edit: Never mind. I forgot that I was using a different email address last year. Once I logged in using that everything was as it should be.

I don't understand the 50 games limit thing. Is that something we want? Something we can get rid of if we choose?

I also don't see the weighting of the categories. All I see is -00 next to everything. Last year some categories were weighted a lot more heavily than others. Blocks and steals were worth 3 fantasy points each for example, and points scored were worth only .5 fantasy points. We should get this nailed down before the draft.

JMost - I don't think that games limit thing should be there.

With regard to weighting - I didn't think there was one - in Head-to-Head you face off with your opponent and just add up the totals in the particular category for the week, and if you have the highest total - you win 1 point for that category. So 9 cats means you can win 9 points and get the Win for the week, or you can win only 5 cats to your opponents 4 cats and still get the W for the week. Correct?

MVBob, that's the way we did it 2 years ago - whoever won the most categories (of the 9) for the week, won the matchup. Last year we did a points system, with whoever accumulating the most points in all categories combined, winning the week. I don't care which way we go, as long as it's clear ahead of time. Some guys have value in a "categories" setup but not a "points" one.

Regarding Keepers:

I'm fine with a 3 year limit. It keeps things fresh.

I also like the idea of forfeiting your pick in the next draft for whatever round the player being kept was drafted in. This should apply to players you trade for too I think.

As far as the number of keepers, I'm open, but would think 3 as a minimum and 5 as a max. I'd lean toward 3 myself just to keep things new each year.

The big question is: Is NBA.com setup to accomodate whatever we want to do?

ugh, do you remember the email address and password you used last year? That's the one you want to log in under. Once you do that, I think you'll see our league, your team, and everything else you need to get going.

Because nba.com has a new look, I too "joined" the site anew this week and because I was using a new email address and username (compared to last year) I couldn't get to the page I needed to. Once I remembered what I used last year I was fine.

Bob - I just gave you commmissioner level access. I agree that we need to get rid of the 50 game limit, but I like the 30 game limit. I did think that the categories were weighted with points last year, but I am going to be away all day today. Do what you guys think makes sense...
