Oh yeah, and I do like the keepers plan that Bob described as well. NBA.com can accomodate our wackiest keeper draft idea. We can even trade draft picks with
each other behind the scenes and then adjust the draft order to reflect that from year-to-year.
Bob - please random the draft order if you can figure out how to do it... |

Okay - I think I have ugh's new e-mail and will just plug it in and see if that works for him.
I don't remember the points system at all and wouldn't know how to weight things, as it doesn't make sense to me. If we do points, that means we don't have 9 points total to win, 1 for each category, and I distinctly remember that we had head-to-head scores of 5-4, 6-3, etc., indicating we just summed up each of the totals for each category, and who ever got the most points won that category for the week. |

MVBob, I created a dummy league so I could see what the setup options were and how to change certain things.
I'm sure you don't need my help, but just in case time is short ... Now that Jugs has given you Commish status, you should have a "Commish" tab when you login to our league. If you click that and then go to "League Settings" and from there move to the "Scoring" tab, you will see a check box right at the top of the page which lets you set whether categories are weighted or not. Last year they were weighted and I'd vote for that again - just staying with the defaults. I suggest you make an exective decision about how many keepers and how the keepers will work. At this point we don't have time to discuss it, so I think it's best that we trust you to do what's best. And then, whatever you decide, please post it here - perhaps under it's own thread so people are sure to see it. |

Thanks JMost - I'm 99% sure we used the "Most Categories Win" scoring system versus the "Most Fantasy Points Wins" scheme, because
I've never ever played the fantasy point approach in my life (unless I'm becoming senile). I know that is what we used at yahoo too, and so that is
what we'll stick with. Hopefully no one has a problem with that: the nine categories will be 1. points, 2. rebounds, 3. assists, 4. 3s made, 5. off rebs,
6. steals, 7. blocks, 8. FG% and 9. FT%, and who ever wins the most categories for the week get the win. No weighting is involved.
However, for fear of losing our 10 PM draft spot (it looks like if any changes are made now - a new draft time starting Tuesday is only available), I won't make the change at NBA.com right now. That being the case, I will work fastidiously to get the constitution up and post it here and at the fantasy site to memorialize things, and then make the scoring changes after the draft. I'll also use a random number generator to reorder the draft Looking forward to it everyone! P.S. I'll send this message out to everyone's e-mail as well. |

MVBob, my condolences to your wife and family because you are definitely going senile.
I am positive that we used a points system last year. It was previous years at Yahoo that we used the "best of 9 categories" system. Having said that, I don't care which one we use this year, and if a change means losing our draft time, I am all for staying with what we have now. Thanks for helping to get this set up. |

Yes, JMost is right. I liked the points system much better. If JMost demolishes MVBob in four categories, and MVBob eeks out the other five, is it fair that
MVBob wins? Plus, IIRC, the Yahoo league was like playing nine games each week. In the above scenario, JMost would have had a 4-5 record coming out of that
week.
I don't like the categories at all. I'll bend to whatever the group decides, but the points system last year was WAAAY better. And I'm not saying that because I won.

Do you recall what the weighting system was? Because we have to something in place, because 1 block made can be the same as 1 point scored . . . And are we okay with the 9 categories? |

Exactamente. I believe those are the default settings once you check the box to use weighted scoring.

I was not a big fan of the point system we used last year. The all or nothing scenario sucked IMO. If I recall, I was in the top 3 or 4 in overall points but
was barely over .500 because teams would get hot during the week I played them and then revert to normal the following weeks. Plus if it was close going into
the weekend, there were frantic drop and adds to get those extra games and points to try and put them over the top.
But like MVJ, I will be the good little soldier and go along with the majority.

I think that was more of function of the head-to-head vs. roto format. If we were to change to the "most categories win" than that wouldn't
necessarily change the outcome for you yak. You just had the uncanny ability to hit a team when they were their hottest.

Ok, since I re regiestered with my actual address, I think I cancelled out my league registration. I can find celtics17 at nba.com, but whenI try to join, it says the league was full. Can you take me out of the league and I will try to re join.
