I just read that one too Jmost, pretty good.
I just want to know from everyone.... Is Rondo a franchise player? CP3, Deron Williams, safe to say they are. |

Not a franchise player yet but he should get there eventually. If he can consistently hit those outside jumpers especially during crunch time like in Game 2, then he's almost there. In a few years, once the Big trio has gone to pasture, this team should be built around him and Perk. |

yak, looking way down the road, that would be an interesting reversal in team development if the C's have the point guard and center positions locked uyp
and need to fill in the 2,3,4 positions. Recall that for many years, the C's had good/great swingman players but weakness at the 1 and 5 which are
arguably the most critical positions.

And the hardest to fill.
I'm curious whether any of you guys had heard the stuff about Rondo's early difficulties with teammates before. It was news to me. Never underestimate the heart of a champion! |

Same here didn't know about Rondo's early difficulties with teammates. It's amazing with bloggers and internet access that there are still things
that outsiders are not privy too even if we think we are in the know about everything about our teams.

I just want to know what he does when he goes to the beach....flip flops there too? It would be fun to just hand out in the locker room and watch all their
weird pregame rituals and superstitions.

Actually, much of it goes on when the media isn't there (before or after the media's 45 minutes). They definitely don't start psyching up until the
media leaves. That is when I'd love to be a fly on the wall...watching what each one does to amp up for the coming game.
RR does always wear the flip flops. I never knew that either. But I do know one thing. Jackie McMullen has the whole Celtic management and team's respect. She is treated like royalty when she is at a game. There's is no doubt they will give Jackie 'a little more' than the average sports writer. And darn it, she is a very nice person. Can't even dislike her! lol

She's too young for you tT.
BTW does Rondo have flat feet? Maybe that's why his feet hurt so much. |

I think he said he thought the tape might have been put on too tight.

I heard him say it was the soles of his feet, maybe a burning sensation.

I am so pleased with Rondo for a number of reasons. During the dark years of Antoine Walker playing the "point foward", and other experiments with
West and Banks being forced into PG roles I am glad to have a REAL floor general for the Celtics. I was always arguing that a REAL pg is rare. We've got
one in Rondo.
Remember the arguments about Telfair vs. Rondo? I had some knockdown dragouts with idiots about who should get the ball. I was told to "slow down" when I compared him to Cousy. As I type this Rondo is doing something that Cousy never did. Rondo is playing at a Hall of Famer level with people like Oscar and Wilt. Averaging a triple double in these playoffs as I type this. The "Big Three" should be changed to the "Big Four" with Rondo. So far in these playoffs he is playing the best and most consistent ball of them all. I am pleased anytime I am correct in an assesment. I am pleased with Rondo being a Celtic. I am happy for Rondo. I am one humongous Rajon Rondo fan.

Here's another article, this one from Bob Ryan, about Rondo and Ellsbury:

One point of that article thats not mentioned for its importance is the intangibles that Rondo clearly has. This kid is a keeper for sure.

Thought I'd put this in an existing Rondo thread rather than starting a new one:
Rondo's 19 assists in Game 6 without a turnover is an NBA playoff high at least since 1991. see it here on this great stat site edit: according to this article Norm Nixon also had 19 in a playoff game in 1979. So Rajon is in the record books. Never underestimate the heart of a champion! |

Rajon Rondo, or as I like to call him the Celtics MVP of the opening series, has compiled some eye popping numbers. The triple doubles are pretty much common
knowledge, but there are other things also.
Ummm, thats in the NBA. The entire league. Not too shaby.

Of all those stats, the one that blows my mind is #5 in total rebounds. Just astounding for a guy 6'1" tall.
And this from a guy with two sore ankles. |

It'll be a miracle if he can pull it off again in this series as he's slowed down considerable in the last two games although he apparently had food
poisoning in the last game. I thought you were suppose to get that in away games only?

The Globe has this article today by Shira Springer about Rondo. Worth a read.

Good article and interview JMost, thanks. I see what Tubby Smith was trying to say about asking Rondo to slow down. It's a double-edge sword because you
don't want to take away what the kid does best, but if he's in a different gear than the rest of the team, then that can be an issue.

Yeah, that article reminded me of the knockdown dragouts I used to have with people that liked Telfair better. Man o man I wish I could find some of them now.
One thing this series showed me is that Rondo is just approaching the point in his jump shooting where teams will have to play him honest. If he keeps improving, watch out.
Hater of Haters.
