I've asked myself that question on a few occasions. It's not that easy even for me but that's only because of the injuries that Oden endured lately. Aside from that Oden is miles ahead of Perk at a similiar stage. I really don't know how many followed Oden closely in college but trust me he was a guy with a nice post game - just check out the championship game where he dominated Noah and Horford. Now he's just asked to defend, rebound, and finish but that doesn't mean he doesn't have it in him. Part of Oden's problems now IMO is that he's gained too much upper body weight with all the weight lifting. He was so much better off in college when he was more agile and more explosive. The naysayers should not dismiss Oden so quickly because even though he was inconsistent, he did manage to lead the team in double-doubles on a team with good players which is admirable for any rookie. Perk couldn't stay in the game much less put up those kind of stats when he was in the league his first couple years. Like Perk, Oden is a very hard working player with a determination to be great so I would expect that in 5yrs he'll be a pretty damn good center. The Blazers just don't need him to be right now which is a good thing for Oden. The one thing that Oden does better hands down is finish. Once he gets his big mits on the ball it's all over with - no soft layups or getting stuffed. Give the kid 2yrs and you'll see what I meant all along. Only health standing in his way.
