Considering most teams could only offer the mid-level, that deal was rather ridiculous.I never realised the Cavs owners were that rich that they could offer
that kind of deal to player who is nothing but a role player.

Artest to the Lakers is friggin huge. No sense in whistling past the graveyard, that is a serious move.

Cavs looking at Barnes | ||
Cavs have already signed Anthony Parker, and now looking at Barnes. I
assume this means we are not interested. I don't know why....can only hope we have better options. Or maybe the FO thinks that Walker/Giddens are as good
or better than someone like Barnes? I have my doubts.

That is a good deal for the Cavs. Parker is a proven NBA player and arguably would have done as good a job as G.Hill (if not better) in backing up Pierce.
It's hard to believe the C's would not at least match that offer which is about what they have in mind for Glen Davis (according to soothsayer
extraordinaire Gary Tanguay). And it's a double whammy because a direct EC competitor gets him. Now if the Cavs sign Barnes too, I will be bummed.
In short, I am of the opinion that you must overpay somewhat to keep a player away from a strong and direct competitior. |

Didn't Orlando pay a pretty penny, especially considering the luxury, to match the Mavs 5-yr offer for Gortat. I guess Gortat is pi$$ed because he wanted
the starting role with Dallas instead of being a sub to Superduperman.

Wonder if we just might be holding out for Bowen? I personally think he's just about done, but our brass certainly knows better than I.....still a little
mystified why we don't try to sign Barnes, as he seems fit for the part, and could probably be had for the bi-annual.
The Milwaukee Bucks continue to make Bruce Bowen's $4 million expiring contract available, but word is no trade is close. If the Bucks don't strike a deal in the next two weeks, Bowen will be waived by Aug. 1 at a cost of just $2 million, making him a free agent sure to interest various rivals of the San Antonio Spurs since Bowen is not expected to return to the silver and black |

Really - Bowen would be perfect - a nasty at the SF is what this team is missing.

BostonDave wrote:Artest to LA is way blown out of proportion IMO. Artest is on the downside of his career, clearly slipping the last couple of years with injuries, shooting percentage, not to mention he's obviously the volatile sort. Who the hell knows if he'll get along with Kobe and Phil? Now that Artest is in Hollywood, who the hell knows if his focus will be on basketball 100%. This is NOT a slamdunk move, not by a longshot. Ariza is proven for LA, and is only getting better. They know Ariza works and letting him walk away like that was idiotic. To me the difference between LA this year and last was the fact that Ariza stepped up for them. Bynum was around this time but I didn't see him as factor one way or another. Now they could be on the verge of losing Odom. Artest to LA is fine with me. |

MV, Artest is on fn 30yrs old.....it sucks LA got him. Ariza sucks and LA did a great job replacing him and it pisses me off.

Don't worry ugh, they are going to lose Odom and Bynum isn't the stud everyone told us he would have been when we kicked the Lakers' asses in 6 for
17. San Antonio is going t0o get by them this year I think. Denver has another shot at it too IMO...

The "anti-Kobe for MVP" chanter has spoken . . . I hope the Lakers slip, but they seem to be able to continually reload on the fly.

A few long in a tooth guys are okay, but it's a long and grueling season and a slightly not so veteran backup SG/SF would be nicer. What's the Kobe-not-stopper Ruben Patterson doing these days? A reunion with him and Sheed? Let the bad boys role! |

Ruben Patterson is getting up there in age by now too - he was last spotted coaching his new babysitter on how to play tiddly winks.

I hope we have nothing to do Bowen. He's 37 and washed up. He's a major offensive liability and his strongsuit as a one on one defender has been
greatly exagerrated as of late - those skills have diminished too with age. He'll bring nothing on the second unit except a 3pt shot now and then but
he's a horrible free throw shooter, not that it will matter a whole lot but it should be noted. There's good reason why San Antonio got rid of him and
probably wouldn't bring him back even for dirt cheap.
I'm not sure we'll get him but I'll much rather have Moon who's no offensive juggernaut but at least he has great length and athleticism to score other ways besides shooting long range. Moon is the by far the better defensive option. |

Didn't realize Bowen was that ancient. Let's pass on him then.
It'll take a lot of wheeling and dealing to get Moon here apparently. |

I hope Odom leaves...that would be great. But I don't see them letting him leave without at least a sign and trade.
