I think 2 is better. Given that in the first round we draft 1-10, then in the second round it is 10-1, and then 1-10 again in the third round, there is a big advantage to drafting earlier. The person drafting first will get 3 of the top 21 players, while the person drafting tenth with get 3 of the top 30 players. It is more even if you keep an even number of players, two or four.

I won't be joining the league this year which isn't a bad thing by the looks of it as you guys already have a full roster.
It was fun but I was spending too much time on it when I could be doing something else more productive. Hopefully you guys will keep this thread updated so I can at least keep tabs on who's kicking who's arse. |

But at least you won't be making changes at half time of games where an undrafted player is blowing up, like last year. I at least waited until the game was over, only to find that the guy was already on your team. (Now I can try your tactic. muahaha.) |

Yeah I believe that was Tony Allen I picked up. He did great for me until he went down. It'll be interesting to see if any of you yahoos draft him this year.
Tell you what T, if I pick up any juicy tidbits on sleeper players during the season I'll pass it on to you. I'll just live vicariously through your fantasy team this year.  Maybe together we can finally get you into the playoffs.

Jug, since the draft order is random anyway, what is the thinking for reordering it? Also, why two divisions?
Also, I don't understand the setup. It seems we have elements of rotisserie, points and head to head all mixed in together. How does this work? |

I think we're full Frank, but if you or we find another poster who wants in the league then we'll open it up to 12 teams and add you in.
Basically JMost, the league is head-to-head just like last season, but instead of winning certain categories, the scoring will be based on rotisserie points and the team with the most points will win the match-up for that week. The draft will be done via e-mail and you will get an e-mail when it is your turn to pick. You have 24 hours to make your selection or the computer will do it for you. Obviously, try not to take the entire 24 hours. I was thinking of starting the draft a week from Monday, ince training camps have gotten underway. What do you guys think? In terms of re-ordering the draft.. The order was random, but it was set before anyone signed up so I already knew that the last person to sign up would automatically get the first pick. We need to random the order now so that people (that means you 32fan ;-) ) don't get rewarded for coming into the fray last... The two divisions thing has no meaning really. I think we all play each other the same amount anyway - I was just trying to add a little flavor... |

whoops - looks like 32 has the 8th pick, but I was going on his post above. Anyway, the draft order still needs to be randomed again because people were assigned ahead of time based on the order they signed up for the league. I was playing with the random order already and that is why it wasn't in the exact order of when people signed up...

I have no idea what you are talking about with the draft. I hadn't actually seen that I was 1st, 8th or anything else. I was just messing around.
Just make sure I get the first pick or I'm selling my two tickets to the Laker game to a couple of Kobe fans. |

I'm ok with what you propose Jug, especially since I may have trouble doing a live draft for certain days in late October, but a couple of things do occur to me: 1) I know that some people find draft night the best part of fantasy basketball and they'd miss it. 2) The later we do a draft the less the chances of someone's season being ruined by drafting a player who gets hurt before the season even begins. As an alternative, what about a live draft on one of the last 3 days of October, which are Mon Oct 29, Tues 30 or Wed 31? I could make any of those 3 dates at any time from 9 pm on. p.s. Sorry to be such a pain with all my questions and such. |

Not a pain at all JMost. I don't have a problem with a live draft at all personally, but I remember that last season it was almost impossible to find a night when everyone was going to be av.ailable and it took weeks to get everyone to sound off in here as to whether or not they could make the draft and if the date worked for them. I was hoping to avoid that this season. At the same time, you make a good point about drafting too soon and then getting totally screwed before the season even begins.
Let's take in informal vote on e-mail draft v. live draft - what would everyone prefer? |
