You're mine KBalla
Amare vs Howard is very spicy. Here's hoping KG scores 35 and Ray Ray drops 40 the first game. Yah right.
Big Baby wants a spot on that bench.

Nobody can stop me (except Dwight Howard - I see myself regretting this more and more)...

At least you got Duncan - I took Kidd who just got an epidural a few weeks ago - great!
Damn you yakyakyak!! (I just felt like writing that for some reason) |

There's always Jamal Crawford, Mbob. He's just sitting on the waiver wire...waiting...waiting.
And it's not all a bed of roses for me either. Blount being traded to Miami may affect my 11th round pick Udonis Haslem's numbers. Actually, Frank has Crawford so never mind Mbob. You're screwed! |

Alright, yakyakyak is picking on my first rounder Kidd who miracously returned to form last night after not playing in the preseason. So I am relieved. But now it's time to pick on the yakster!
yakyakyak - I know you had a decent draft lots of nice sleeper picks in the mid to late rounds, but you've invested heavily in a lot of youngsters. You seemed to have ended up empty-handed in the frontcourt with just Aldridge, Horford and Thorton . . . so you are lucky you have Garnett indeed. Aldridge is not a sure thing and Horford and Thorton may not even get minutes being rookies and potentially buried on their team's depth chart. Plus you are looking pretty thin in the backcourt - Taking Hinrich with your 3rd pick ahead of Redd, McGrady, Kevin Martin and Joe Johnson is a reach indeed. And I can't believe you took Charlie Bell - you of all people know he's an after thought with a healthy Mo Williams and Michael Redd. You have a bunch of starlets yakster - but they are not yet ready for Broadway. There's always next year yak! |

Re: Smack Central | ||

Yah Aldridge is way overrated and overhyped for a 2nd year player. The fact that Oden is lost for the year Aldridge will be abused by double teams because chumps like Pryzbilla and Frye scare no one. I'll take him off your hands Yak --just say the word.

Hah Think I'll take my chances with Alridge for awhile MVJ.
I appreciate your concern for my team MBob.(Didn't you do this last year yet somehow I still manage to finish 3rd getting knocked out by the eventual champ The Jugornots in the semis). Last year you dissed me for having Ben Wallace on my squad because you said his FT% and FG% were fantasy killers yet look who has him this year. I guess it's all a matter of perspective with you. As always there is a method to my madness. I chose Hinrich over those shooting guards because Hinrich is eligible as both PG and SG. Since in our league, assists count for twice as many while scoring only counts for half, I decided by having Hinrich I can have both him and Billups start in my backcourt. Two starting point guards mean twice as many assist every week. Plus Hinrich is in his fourth year and his stats show he's improve every year he has been in the league. Plus Redd, McGrady and Johnson are all coming off injuries. You might like having a MASH squad but I don't. As for my center spot I figured having Garnett is essentially having a star center. He averages a solid double double every year plus he blocks a lot of shots. I have my center he's just masquerading as a power forward. So by time it got back to me in the fourth round to get a center my options were limited so I decided to pick a center who could give me decent PF numbers instead so enter Aldridge. He's not going to put up gawdy numbers but I don't need him to, just solid numbers. Yeah I have lot of young guys but this is a keeper league. If Horford or Thorton turn out to be steals at least I have the first option over anyone else especailly since they were all drafted in the 8th round and higher. I can't believe you're criticizing me for picking Bell in the 10th ROUND!!! (You did this last year too when I picked Okafor in the sixth round and what has he become this year, a third round selection!). And I took Bell at the end of the tenth round too essentially the beginning of the eleventh round. It's a crap shoot at that point. Let's take a look at some of winners picked in the 11th round shall we: Tim Thomas,Adam Morrison(now dropped),Kelenna Azuibukke(now dropped),Mark Blount(now dropped),Chris Webber,Tony Allen.Yeah there was a lot to chose from at that point. If Redd or Mo go down (which they both did last year) Bell's stock automatically goes up. My team's not perfect but I'll take it just like I did last year. |

In need of another C I just picked up Hilton Armstrong after seeing this news:
Armstrong, starting in place of a resting Tyson Chandler, scored a game-high 25 points to go along with a game-high 14 rebounds Wednesday night in New Orleans'preseason loss to the Hawks. He figures to be starting within a month after Chandler sprains his thumb playing video games or breaks his jaw eating a steak. Picking up Armstrong might be the steal of the year. We'll see but I really don't see how it could be argued . |

Yeah I just picked Peja myself. He scored 22 pts in the same game your boy Hilton scored 25 pts against the Bobcats.Apparently I didn't like my team as much as I thought.
If Chandler goes down, you might very well have a steal. |

Re: reply | ||

32, you beat me to it. I saw the same thing and Hilton has played well in other preseason games.
He has a chance of breaking into the starting 5, or at least, getting meaningful minutes. People know about the shot blocking. What they don't know is he has a legit mid range shot around the hoop. He can develop into a decent all around PF/C if he keeps this up. Jug, you got Duncan. Give me a break. Yak - Horford will be a good pick-up - even this year, I'm feeling. He will earn the minutes. Like Danny Ainge - you got lucky...punk. MVJ, your line-up looks solid. You better not win the first year you are here. You'll be banned. I'll make sure. An injury ought to humble you. Bob and Yak - what memories! Bob and Yak - what memories! or did I already say that? |

Ouch - my condolences to Team Knucklecup (also known as Team 3 in the standings - head scratching???) . . . he's got Bibby in the 5th (not bad!) who is going to be out half the season recuperating from thumb surgery - he beat Chandler to the punch I guess.
yakyakyak just ducked and missed that cream pie that was headed toward his face - damn! I admit I do have a potential MASH unit - it was not by design. I kind of got stuck with Murphy and Nene as backup bigs . . . I obviously felt Ben Wallace was under-rated in the rankings. The FT% that hurts him when categories are broken out just won't be a big factor in the Fantasy points system - if he goes 1 for 3, which is his career average, he only needs one rebound or a half a steal to compensate. Plus I get the 'fro

It's all over now. I just added a undersized power forward to my bench, and it's not Big Baby. It's only my 18th transaction since the draft. Might be a hint I wasn't too crazy about my last 3 autoselections but that might not have to matter.
My team might be too young for primetime but I'm not afraid to make trades if need be. |

I just corrected your line-up Ugh, but I also messed up all your line-ups going forward. I reset the one for tonight, but you will have to set them going forward starting tomorrow. Also, you could only fit one more guy into your line-up so basically you're getting your ass kicked because I am awesome...

Re: Smack Central | ||

I see that I would currently be kicking Jugs butt head-to-head . . . unfortunately, knucklecup is MIA in the first week because he's not set his line-up and has 5 games played for his bench and only 2 for his starters. No wonder I'm kicking ass. But anyway, I'm running a thread called wake-up call to make the important announcement of daily line-up changes.

Our league's boring. Where's the trash talking? Does Mbob and myself have the only rivalry around here? Where's the witty banter? The pure hatred of each other? The general disgust about getting clobbered because the other guy has played more games than you? The excuses that you're losing because one of your guys got into a stupid car wreck? Come on people.
Is it too late to rename our league the hoo hum fantasy league? |

I'd be trash talking right now but my first week opponent is a little fragile, so I'm taking it easy on him.

Re: Smack Central | ||

My . . . am I relieved . . . after putting up a horrid line during an equally horrid NJ team effort against TOR on Friday, Jason Kidd just put up the season's first triple-double tonight against WAS, while also making 4 threes, 3 steals, 1 block and being 2-2 from the line. That's a lot of fantasy points my friends, only smidgen less than what KG produced during his amazing 20-20 effort on Friday night.
So thank you Mr. Kidd - you old fart - for not making me look like a total buffoon when I picked you in the 1st round. You may be worthy of a 1st round pick after all |
