This week's guest is the inimitable Peter Vecsey, AKA; "The Viper."

His regular "Hoop Du Jour" columns for "The New York Daily News," "USA Today" and presently; "The New York Post" are informative, controversial and always entertaining

Peter has been covering the NBA (and the ABA, back in the day) since 1964, appearing regularly on NBC and TNT.

Honors include being a first ballot inductee into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame.

Here's his take on a possible Kevin Garnett to Boston trade from his
column of June 22nd, along with a dig at one of his favorite targets.

Quote:
An Eastern Conference executive goes both ways on the sumo subject: Im getting the feeling Minnesota would like to do something, but the big issue is Garnetts ability to opt out. I do think Boston-Phoenix is real, but the Garnett contract is a huge issue. No team is going to deal with McHale without dealing with Garnett and his agent.

Whos willing to testify under oath that hasnt happened? Whod believe any of these guys if they did? My instincts tell me a firm deal already is in place.

A source that puts copious coin in Garnetts bank account claims itll be announced on draft day, no later than when the salaries change July 1.

Meanwhile, Vin-yard Baker, who surely knows the drill by now, was picked up for drunken driving after leaving Foxwoods casino earlier this week.

Connecticut state police said the ex-Celtic and Knick was extremely cooperative . . . even to the point of supplying his own balloon.
