There is no other way to do it, but I think our rosters are designed so that we pretty much get to play everyone on our roster rather than having to make
choices on a daily basis in regards to who we are going to play. The only way to make this fair is to eliminate playoffs altogether (possibly rotisserie
format), or trim the starters and expand the bench so that an injury does not have as dramatic of an impact - although, injuries impact rotisserie leagues as
well...

First of all, congrats to all those who posted huge scores this past week. Some pretty impressive numbers.
I've been thinking, if we trim the league to 10 teams next year (a discussion for another time I know) we could pare the regular season to 18 weeks with each of us playing each other twice. It would be an even schedule and we could start our playoffs two weeks earlier. Not a total solution to the issues of this time of year, but a step in the right direction. Personally I have no problem with trying a rotisserie format. If there are those who hate that maybe we should have two leagues with people welcome to play one or both. We might get some new blood too. Was it Surferdad who said he'd play but only if it was rotisserie?
IT'S ALL OVER. IT'S ALL OVER. And the Boston Celtics are World Champions for the SEVENTEENTH TIME.

I like our current format with the playoffs and I really like your solution JMost - but given that we have gone my way for the past few seasons I would be
willing to do a rotisserie format. I have done one before though and become easily bored with it if it is only overall points. My thought for rotisserie if we
do switch is to pick a number of categories and then whoever wins the most categories wins the season. At least then there would be some strategy involved
other than just playing all the guys you drafted and seeing what you get 5 months later and making a few minor changes to the roster along the way...

I'm Out.
Didn't really expect to beat Kmart but it didn't help that Pietrus was out all week and Aldridge missed a couple of games either. It would have been
closer since each player was giving me about 15-20 pts per game. Plus Horford looked lke he hit the wall at the wrong time for me.
And the fantasy format is not fan friendly in any sport. In football teams shut down in week 15 and week 16 too and that's when the playoffs are
starting for fantasy football.

Yak - do I at least get to play your team after you play your other opponent, sort of like the 2nd night of the back-to-back?

Well, I have to face Zeke this week despite my team having one of their best performances of the season last week. Zeke actually scored 113+ points more than I
did last week and almost cleared 1000 points. Scary stuff for the Jugornots...

As far as I'm concern, your playoff matchup with me is for the championship. The rest are just pretender.
I'm assuming I'm playing a split squad this week and only getting half the points each day. Even tT could beat me this week. |

Hey this is March Madness so any cinderella deserves a shot to get in!!
Seriously I get the concerns on both sides of the debate. I liken this to all the times my football teams were bounced when coaches decide to rest star
players for the last two weeks. There have been many times I've had a scoring monster in football and was let down by the injury bug or resting players.
The injury bug thing, well, all I can say is take the late rounds seriously but the other thing you can't really control. Hell, I would be pissed if I had
Marion or DWade. What can you do? On the flip side if we were doing traditional rotisserie and one of my star players got hurt for a third of the season I
would be basically screwed for the rest of the year and I would lose all interest and tank the season. If you take a couple of hits like that in the beginning
maybe all that GM activity goes out the door when behind so many points, I don't know.

This is an easier problem to solve if money's involved. Football certainly has the same problems, but you can give some money for the people that had the
best regular season record or points for, saving the big payout for the team that wins the whole thing. I really, really like the head-to-head aspect and
wouldn't want to lose that. You have a chance late in the season even if you're the third or fourth best team over the season.

You are well-stocked for the long haul in keeper league MVJ
I have to find some solace in the fact that I just pulled a Miami (or would that be last year's Celtics, Bucks and Grizzlies) and got a better draft position for next year by losing in the first round of the playoffs So now all I have to ponder is whether Greg Oden is going to be a top 50 fantasy player next year and be worthy of an early pick for the Open-facers (before he falls to MVJ's Perfect Storm)

I'm with Zeke - let's take the 10 most active teams, introduce a modest wager with awards for regular season and playoffs and follow MVJ's
suggestion on the roster adjustments. Part of me thinks we should stick with the format we have and try to nurture it over a few years and see where we get
with it...

I feel like we should have the opportunity to pick up players during the playoffs provided a team is not over the limit on transactions. If we can get guys
during the reg season then why not during the playoffs when injuries happen just the same?
BTW MVBob Oden has bad knees and poor conditioning. I doubt he cracks the lineup over Pryzbilla. |

If you allow it in the playoffs then people can make moves with the waiver wire to add games onto their schedule. I can check and see if the commissioner (i.e.
me) has the ability to adjust rosters and make moves after the waiver deadline. If so, then we could keep the same format but with an exception for season
ending injuries only that had to be cleared with the commissioner. This would be allowed beyond the maximum number of moves in a season which would apply only
to the regular season match-ups...

Jughead |

BTW - I just checked and this is possible for us to do. And, it can still incorporate the waiver process so that all the team requests for one player can be
entered while the waiver wire order will remain intact and determine who gets the player if there are multiple claims. The limit on transactions for the
regular season is suspended for the postseason...

I keep forgetting that there are consolation rounds once you lose in the playoffs. The only bright spot is that I may actually get to see Brand put up some
points for me for a game or two before my season ends. Sure. Now.

Yeah I'm losing to both 32 and Mbob because of that move by the Pistons. Thanks a lot Dumars. As for next year if we are going to keep the playoff format, we should start it earlier as someone else suggested. As for the waiver wire moves during the
playoffs, couldn't we just reset the number to a max number of 5 for everyone, that way there's no cheating possible and everyone is on an equal
playing field ?
|
|||
Jughead |
|||

We can't reset the max number of transaction to 5 in the playoffs because I am not able to zero out the number of transactions we've made up to that
point in the season. However, I could keep track of the transactions in the playoffs and limit them to 5 per team. The musical chairs with Yao and Wilcox was
to see if I could alter the rosters after the add/drop period had ended and it turns out that I can...
